Dispatch One

Field-service mobile app

A technician-first mobile app: today’s route, offline job cards, photo proof of work and a signature capture that syncs the moment signal returns.

An interactive prototype we designed and built.

The problem

Field teams work in basements and lift shafts. Any app that assumes connectivity gets abandoned in week one and the paperwork goes back to the van.

Built with

  • React Native
  • Expo
  • SQLite (local-first)
  • Mapbox
  • Node API

The approach

  1. 1

Local-first job queue — every action is written locally and reconciled on reconnect, with conflicts surfaced rather than silently overwritten.

  2. 2

Thumb-reachable UI: the three actions a technician takes on site sit in the bottom third of the screen.

  3. 3

Photo and signature capture compressed on-device so a day of jobs uploads over a weak connection.

  4. 4

Dispatcher board and technician app share one job model, so status is never ambiguous.

Shipped features

  • Route-ordered day view with travel time
  • Offline job cards with parts and checklists
  • Photo, notes and signature capture
  • Live status back to the dispatcher board
